Wound to Heal

I recently read an article discussing the scariest movies watched as a child, and the impact it leaves on you as an adult. If I had to think about it, the scariest movie I’ve seen as an adult is “ She’s almost 35, the story of Chantelle.” Honestly, looking at my skin today wondering where those plump, firm cheeks went is enough to help me outrun any serial killer!

This is why I love what I do- Trying out all the latest and greatest skin care treatment and products!

Microneedling and Microchannelling

One of my absolute favorites is microchanneling also known as microneedling. This form of Collagen Induction Therapy uses a medical pen-like device with a bundle of tiny needles on the tip to create micro wounds in the skin. The skin immediately gets to work on healing the wound by producing more collagen, which in turn helps tone and tighten the new layers of skin.

The treatment is very versatile based on how deep the needles penetrate the skin.

Typically, professional skin care therapists in spas and salons can perform a superficial version of the treatment. However, aestheticians and physicians at clinics and medi-spas like “Cosmetology” provide a deeper treatment, which delivers more drastic, faster results. Generally a numbing agent is applied to the skin before the treatment begins, to reduce any discomfort. In both cases, a serum can be infused to stimulate certain effects in the skin.

Mesotherapy with Mesopen

“Upon my travels to America last year, I attended a skin care and beauty conference in New York. I met with various Aesthetic Doctors who discussed “Methotherapy” in depth, a highly effective and clinically proven method of microchanneling where medicine meets cosmetics.” – Operations Director at Cosmetology

Mesotherapy is designed to introduce active ingredients directly into the skin’s productive layer to help the skin repair and rejuvenate itself, keeping it young and healthy.

Skincare specialists at Cosmetology say “Using a tiny needle operating device, the skin stimulates the production of fibroblasts to produce fibers such as collagen and elastin, which are responsible for strengthening the skin’s barrier and elasticity. By adding specialised serums to the treatment, we are able to speed up the result of reducing wrinkles, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, scarring and improving the overall texture of the skin. Compared to chemical peels and microdermabrasion, micro-needling builds up the skin rather than breaking it down.”

At “Cosmetology”, unique serums and masks are used in the treatment to address different concerns. A all time must is “Hyaluronic acid”, a substance that is naturally present in the human body. It is found in the highest concentrations in fluids in the eyes and joints. Hyaluronic acid used in skincare is extracted from Sodium Hyaluronate or made by bacteria in the laboratory.

In this specific treatment it is used to plump and heal the skin while holding moisture in the skin’s upper layers to increase and sustain hydration.

I loved my treatment at Cosmetology;  Not only was my skin hydrated and glowing, it felt tighter, which I was told was a result of the Microchannelling. If you’re looking for an anti-aging treatment that will help fight the signs of aging, or repair acne scarring definitely look into microneedling!  Your skin will thank you!
